Incontinence/Overactive Bladder
Overactive Bladder (OAB) is a condition that typically emerges as people age, although it is not a normal part of aging. Although OAB affects millions of Americans, many people suffer quietly because they feel embarrassed. Uncontrollable bladder contractions can create problems both day and night, often making it very difficult to live and carry out routine activities.
The core symptoms of OAB include the following:
- Sudden, strong urges to urinate
- Uncontrollable urges to urinate
- Frequent urination throughout the day
- Waking up at night to urinate
- Accidental leaks
If you experience two or more of these symptoms, there is a very good possibility that you may have OAB. These symptoms may be caused by other medical conditions including urinary tract infections, vaginal infections, prostate disease, significant stress, and other medical disorders. Occasionally, prescription and non-prescription medications and supplements may cause these symptoms or make them worse.
